DETAILED PROCEDURE
Gather the whole group together in a circle for this activity. Explain calmly to the children: "Individual accountability is hard. Group cultures of accountability - where the norm is honest, caring self-correction - are even rarer and more powerful."
Step 1
Assess: what is the current accountability culture in your peer group? When someone in the group does something harmful - what happens? (Nothing / private whisper / public confrontation / honest loving conversation).
Step 2
Design: what would a healthy accountability culture in your friend group look like? What norms would need to exist?
Step 3
Say gently to the children: "A group that can't hold its members accountable eventually becomes unsafe for everyone in it - especially those with less power."
Step 4
Introduce one accountability norm into a real peer group and evaluate after 2 weeks.
