Body Scan in Nature
9-10 years
Me with Nature
25 min
Learning goal :
Learning to reconnect with myself through nature
Pedagogical Intention :
Developing sensory awareness of well-being in connection with nature
Target skills :
Developing bodily awareness and full sensory mindfulness. Reducing stress and restoring attention.
Materials :
Mat or large blanket + Quiet natural space
Detailed procedure :
1. Lying on a mat or in the grass, eyes closed
2. Slow guided body scan: feet, legs, stomach, chest, hands, face
3. For each zone: 'What do you feel? Warmth? Tension? Lightness?'
4. Then extend to nature: 'What does the ground feel under your body? The air on your skin?'
5. Slow return: wiggle fingers, open eyes, sit up gently
Progress Indicators :
Active sensory listening: Spontaneously describes a physical sensation experienced in nature (warmth, sound, texture) with increasingly precise vocabulary according to age.
Body-nature connection: Places their hands on bark, lies in the grass, closes their eyes facing the sun - grounding gestures initiated without prompting.
Emotional regulation through nature: Returns to a calm state after time in nature and names it: "I feel better / calmer / less stressed."
Expression of inner feelings: Translates their sensory experience into words, drawing, or writing.
Inner reconnection ritual: Joins their sit spot or chooses a nature-reconnection activity without being invited - a sign of an internalized personal ritual.
Awareness of the nature-well-being link: Verbalizes the link between their inner state and time spent in nature: "When I look at the sky, I feel less stressed."
