The Secret Box

Me with (Smart) Objects

3-4 years

15 min

Learning goal :

Learning to use AI safely

Pedagogical Intention :

Learning to use AI safely for myself

Target skills :

Introduction to privacy protection.

Materials :

A fake microphone or decorated box.

Detailed Procedure :

1. We play 'What do we not tell the box?' 2. We learn that our name, address, and comfort toy are secrets. 3. If we want to say something to the machine, we whisper it to the adult first. 4. The adult decides if it is 'a secret' or not, and whether it can be shared with the machine. Conclusion: our private life belongs to us. What we tell a machine can be read or used by others; this is why the adult acts as a guardian between me and the machine.

Progress Indicators

The child identifies their name as data they should not share with the machine.
