DETAILED PROCEDURE
Set up this activity in pairs. Explain calmly to the children: "After a conflict, rushing to repair before you're ready makes things worse. Knowing when you're ready is a skill."
Step 1
Present the repair readiness scale: 1 (still very activated) to 5 (calm and ready to reconnect).
Step 2
Invite the children to identify what 'ready' feels like in their body.
Step 3
Say gently to the children: "A repair attempt when you're at a 2 usually reopens the conflict. Wait for a 4 or 5."
Step 4
Design a personal 'cool-down protocol' for reaching readiness: how long, what activities, what signals.
