Learning goal :
Developing Emotional Awareness When Interacting with Others
Pedagogical Intention :
Identifying My Emotions When Interacting with Others
Target skills :
Relational arc emotional literacy, Relationship phase recognition, Relational maturity development
Materials :
Relationship arc worksheet, emotional meteorology journal
Detailed procedure :
1. Introduction: "Every significant relationship has an emotional arc - a beginning, a deepening, seasons of difficulty, and sometimes an ending. Understanding the arc helps you navigate each phase."
2. Map a significant relationship (friendship, not required to be romantic): its beginning emotions / current emotional weather / any ruptures and repairs / and if applicable, its ending.
3. Script: "Relationships aren't static. They weather. The ability to weather well - through storms, not just sunshine - is the mark of relational maturity."
4. Explore: what emotions mark healthy deepening? What emotions signal a relationship under stress?
5. Identify: what relational weather are you currently in? What would help?
Progress Indicators :
Maps the full emotional arc of one significant relationship. Identifies the current emotional weather in 2 relationships. Articulates what healthy deepening feels like vs. stress signals.
