DETAILED PROCEDURE

This activity works best one-on-one, or with one child at a time within a small group. Explain calmly to the child: "Changing your mind when you get new information isn't weakness. It's one of the most intelligent things a person can do."

Step 1

Present a scenario with initially limited information, then new evidence. Children track when and why their opinion shifts.

Step 2

Say gently to the child: "Stubborn people keep their opinion no matter what. Wise people update their opinion when facts change."

Step 3

Practice: mini-debate where the explicit goal is to be persuaded by good arguments.

Step 4

Debrief: what makes it hard to change your mind? What makes it easier?

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7

Step 8

Step 9

Step 10

PROGRESS INDICATORS

The child changes their stated opinion when presented with strong counter-evidence.
