Learning goal :

Developing My Ability to Communicate Harmoniously with Others

Pedagogical Intention :

Respecting Different Ideas and Accepting Disagreement

Target skills :

Dialogue-to-advocacy transition, Principled action, Proportionate response design

Materials :

Dialogue-to-advocacy transition protocol, persuasive social action design

Detailed procedure :

1. Introduction: "Dialogue is not always the final step. Sometimes, after genuine listening and engagement, you arrive at a conviction - and conviction demands action."
2. The dialogue-to-advocacy transition: have you genuinely listened? / have you understood the strongest version of the opposing view? / are you acting from principle or from reaction? / what form of action is proportionate and effective?
3. Forms of advocacy: personal testimony / coalition-building / creative expression / civic action / public speaking.
4. Script: "The person who acts before genuinely listening is an agitator. The person who listens but never acts is complicit. The goal is both - in that order."
5. Students design an advocacy action that begins with genuine understanding of opposing views.

Progress Indicators :

Demonstrates they have genuinely engaged with opposing views before advocacy. Designs an advocacy action that begins from understanding. Distinguishes reactive agitation from principled action.

Research Foundations :

Freire (1970); Rawls (1971); Kohlberg (1969)
