DETAILED PROCEDURE

This activity works best one-on-one, or with one child at a time within a small group. Explain calmly to the child: "The most powerful social changes in history were fueled by language - a speech, a letter, a manifesto, a song. Learning to write and speak with the power to move people is a form of moral responsibility."

Step 1

Teach the elements of persuasive social change communication: personal story (makes it human) / systemic context (makes it real) / the call to action (makes it usable) / emotional truth (makes it memorable).

Step 2

Have students write or record a 3-minute piece on a cause they genuinely believe in.

Step 3

Say gently to the child: "The most persuasive thing you can offer is not an argument. It's a window into a reality someone hasn't considered."

Step 4

Peer critique using the 4 elements as the framework.

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7

Step 8

Step 9

Step 10

PROGRESS INDICATORS

The child incorporates all 4 elements in a 3-minute persuasive piece.

The child receives peer critique and revises without defensiveness.

The child reports that their piece moved at least one peer to think differently.
