DETAILED PROCEDURE
This activity works best one-on-one, or with one child at a time within a small group. Explain calmly to the child: "Asking for help when you're overwhelmed is not weakness - it's one of the most effective regulation strategies there is."
Step 1
Invite the children to map their support network: who can they go to for what kind of problem?
Step 2
Practice 3 different help-seeking scripts: to a peer, to a teacher, to a parent.
Step 3
Say gently to the child: "The strongest athletes in the world have coaches. The bravest people ask for help."
Step 4
Role play: practice asking without minimizing or catastrophizing.
