DETAILED PROCEDURE
Set up this activity in pairs. Propose inverting roles specifically when a disagreement arises between two children.
Step 1
Introduce the perspective-swap by saying: "Act as if you were them, and they'll act as if they were you."
Step 2
Invite the children to engage in a dialogue where each tries to express the other's underlying need.
Step 3
Notice that the child often concludes: "Oh! Now I understand much better what you wanted."
