DETAILED PROCEDURE
Set up this activity in pairs. Explain calmly to the children: "The quality of listening in a close relationship determines whether the relationship grows or stagnates. Most relationship pain comes not from conflict but from feeling chronically unheard."
Step 1
Intimate listening skills: full attention / no fixing or problem-solving unless asked / reflecting emotional experience, not just facts / follow-up questions that go deeper / sitting with someone's pain without trying to resolve it.
Step 2
Practice: partner listening exchange on a genuinely significant topic (not trivial) - 7 minutes each.
Step 3
Say gently to the children: "The person who feels truly heard by you will give you access to their real self. That is the foundation of genuine closeness."
Step 4
Debrief: what made you feel heard? What made you feel less heard?

Step 6

Step 10
PROGRESS INDICATORS
The child listens for 7 minutes without fixing, solving, or redirecting.
The child reflects emotional experience (not just content) accurately.
The partner reports feeling genuinely understood at a deep level.
