DETAILED PROCEDURE

Gather the whole group together in a circle for this activity. Explain calmly to the children: "Emotional labor is the work of managing feelings and relationships - the person who checks on everyone, who remembers important dates, who smooths conflicts before they erupt. It's usually invisible, usually unpaid, and disproportionately done by some people."

Step 1

Identify emotional labor roles in their own life: who does them? Are they distributed fairly?

Step 2

Appreciation practice: explicitly name and thank one person doing invisible emotional labor this week.

Step 3

Say gently to the children: "Noticing emotional labor is the first step. Redistributing it is the next one."

Step 4

Personal audit: where are you benefiting from someone else's emotional labor without acknowledgment or reciprocity?
