DETAILED PROCEDURE
This activity works best one-on-one, or with one child at a time within a small group. Explain calmly to the child: "At your age, you can go beyond just reading faces. You can read the whole situation."
Step 1
Show images: a child alone at lunch (is it sad or peaceful?), a child crying (is it pain or joy?).
Step 2
Discussion: what else do we need to know beyond the facial expression to understand what someone is feeling?
Step 3
Say gently to the child: "Context is the difference between a good detective and a bad one. Always look at the whole picture."
Step 4
Create a 'context checklist': face + body + setting + relationship + recent events.

Step 10
PROGRESS INDICATORS
The child uses all 5 context clues to identify an emotion.
The child avoids snap judgments based on face alone.
The child correctly reads ambiguous emotional situations using context.
