Strengths inventory (12 illustrated strengths)

Group role cards

DETAILED PROCEDURE

Gather the whole group together in a circle for this activity. Explain calmly to the children: "Every person brings something different to a group. Knowing what you bring helps you contribute on purpose."

Step 1

Invite the children to complete a strengths inventory: which 3 strengths feel most like them? (ideas generator, careful planner, encourager, detail checker, etc.).

Step 2

Map: how might each strength be useful in a group project?

Step 3

Say gently to the children: "Your job in a group isn't to do everything. It's to bring your best thing and let others bring theirs."

Step 4

Class strengths map: post everyone's top strength and refer to it when forming groups.
