DETAILED PROCEDURE

Gather the whole group together in a circle for this activity. Explain calmly to the children: "Saying no is hard in general. It's even harder when the person you're saying it to has power over you - a coach, a teacher, an older peer, a popular classmate."

Step 1

Use these scenarios: a coach who demands more than feels right / a teacher who asks something uncomfortable / an older student who pressures you / a very popular peer whose approval you want.

Step 2

Acknowledge the real difficulty: the cost of no is higher when power is involved.

Step 3

Say gently to the children: "You have the right to your limits even with people who have power over you. And you need support to hold them."

Step 4

Identify: who are your trusted allies for holding limits in high-power situations?

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7

Step 8

Step 9

Step 10

PROGRESS INDICATORS

The child identifies 3 power-differential scenarios where limits are especially hard.

The child names 2 trusted allies who can support limit-holding.

The child reports one time they held a limit in a high-power situation.
