DETAILED PROCEDURE

Gather the whole group together in a circle for this activity. Explain calmly to the children: "When someone with social standing sets a clear limit, they give everyone around them permission to do the same. Limit-setting is a form of leadership."

Step 1

Social proof dynamic: in a group, if no one sets limits, the implicit norm is that limits aren't acceptable. When someone does, the norm shifts.

Step 2

Use these scenarios: you're the first person to say you're not comfortable with something / you leave a situation that violates your limits publicly / you say 'I'm not doing that' in front of people who might follow.

Step 3

Say gently to the children: "Every time you set a clear limit in a group, you make it safer for the next person to set theirs."

Step 4

Commitment: one public limit this week - and notice who it gives permission to.

Step 5

Step 6

Step 10

PROGRESS INDICATORS
